Is Egypt safe for a female solo traveler?

Generally, Egypt is safe for visitors, and that includes female solo travelers. However, female solo travelers most probably will encounter problems such as scams, persistent vendors, catcalling, or at least staring.

What should you do if you travel alone?

Start by choosing your accommodation place where you feel safer. Red sea resorts (like Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada) are the safest, tourist-friendly and relaxing. If you would like to stay in Cairo, Downtown Cairo, the Zamalek area and Dokki are the best. If you would like to explore alone, busy daytime areas in Cairo are the best choice. Yet, you need to be more careful in empty streets after midnight, avoid public transport, crowded marketing and desert areas without a guide.

How can I stay safe?

Dressing modestly will help. Try to cover the shoulders and legs. When using Uber or any other trusted transportation, make sure the numbers are the same, the can made and the same driver that appears on the application. Talk firmly with vendors by not looking and just saying (No, thank you). Finally, a tour guide will make a huge difference and keep you away from potential danger.

To conclude, Egypt is one hundred percent safe as a wonderful destination for a confident female solo traveler if the recommendations mentioned are applied. Also, for those who are comfortable with attention and willing to culturally adapt. Might not be the best choice if you are looking for a luxurious, less-stressed solo trip.
